John's Thoughts

The Bible and the Future

My passion, as many of you know by now, is the study of the Bible, and especially the prophetic sections that pertain to current events and how they might unfold. I will use this section to express the results of that passion. Some of these thoughts will include material that is more throughly explained in our soon-to-be-released book Lost in Translation: Revelation Through Hebrew Eyes and in the next book in our Lost in Translation series: Lost in Translation: Two Brides Two Destinies. I will not attempt to explain and support, or give the background for some of the more basic ideas because they will be covered more completely in the upcoming books.

With all of that said, let's get started.

In order to successfully study current events in the light of Biblical prophecy, we need an understanding of the order of prophetic events leading up to the big event: the Coming of Yeshua the Messiah. Some doubt that this progression exists or believe that most of the prerequisites signs have already occured. This opinion would lead to the false idea that Yeshua could come at any time. Unfortunately, His coming is not going to happen today but could occur in our lifetime.

Revelation reveals 49 general events that must occur before His coming. Other prophecies in the Bible add more detail to these 49 general events. God has given a detailed road map showing us the way. He has revealed this information for several reasons. First, He does not want His people to be unaware but to be informed. Second, during times of stress on the earth, we will need all the proof we can get to support and encourage us in our hope and faith. Third, God will use the fulfillment of His Word as a witness to the world that His is the One true God.

The question at this point is, "How many events have already happened?" It is our opinion that 8 have occured and about 41 are still waiting in the wings. Recent events in the Middle East and their correlation to prophecy would suggest that we are on the threshold of something really big. No, it is not Armageddon or the beginning of the last 7 years prophesied in Daniel chapter 9. Next time we will dig a bit deeper into the chronology of the book of Revelation and see how it applies to current events.
