Why read the books of Enoch, Joshua, and Jubilees?

• Enoch is directly quoted in the New Testament.

• The original Jasher is referred to in the Old Testament.

• Jubilees was highly valued by the Dead Sea community in Qumran and even quoted as Scripture.  

Enoch and Jubilees can be primary source material if you are interested in historical theology and intertestamental development for how Jewish groups in that time period:

• developed detailed study of angels and demons beyond Genesis 6

• understood the “Son of Man” in apocalyptic expectation

• systematized sacred history into jubilees and sabbatical cycles

• believed Torah was observed even before it was given at Sinai
